The Chorlton Challenge 2019
The club is at its best when we can bring as many people together in the same place, at the same race, supporting each other along the way.
Last year was the first year of the Chorlton Challenge, it was great to see the excitement this created especially in the beginning. We have listened to feedback and have tweaked the point system and the event selection and we hope this will encourage more participation in the coming year. We also hope to see a few more CR takeovers. One race on the list already ticks that box with a massive 93 of you signed up. Let’s see if we can do the same at the other 11 events.
This year we have 12 events you can take part in. Like last year your 6 highest scoring events will count towards the Challenge, but don’t let this deter you from taking part in the other 6 as we’re introducing a bonus point for each extra event you take part in.
The Challenge is open to ALL
Apart from Cross Country each event carries the following points;
2 points for taking part in a challenge race
1 point for a PB at that distance
1 point if it’s your first time running that distance
1 point for being 1st CR in your age category
2 points for taking part
1 point if it is your first ever XC event
-From the above we’ll calculate your 6 highest scoring events, for the remaining 6 you can have 1 bonus point per event
1 point for volunteering at Kenworthy as well as running
Like last year you don’t just have to run to be a part of the Challenge;
2 points for volunteering instead of running (capped of 8 points across the events)
1 point for looning instead of running (capped at 4 points across the events)
A trophy will be awarded at the Chorlton Runners Birthday Party for 1st woman and 1st man.
This year dependant on your points you can also reach Bronze, Silver or Gold level and this will lead to entry into the Birthday raffle.
18 points- Bronze – 1 ticket in the raffle
24 points- Silver – 2 tickets in the raffle
30 points – Gold- 3 tickets in the raffle
*Please let us know on the Facebook event if you..
..got a PB for the given distance
..ran your first 10 or Half Marathon
..looned/supported or volunteered
Scoring will be administered by Tim Blackwell with Andy Baguley, Vicky Thompson and Colette Humphrey all helping with organising the Challenge. In the case of any disputes the decision of The Committee is final
The results page will appear here once we are up and running
