The Tuesday Run.
We are now up to 10 mile run on a Tuesday and wil increase this by a mile each week until we are doing a regular half marathon distance
.


Well done to those 7 hardy souls who braved the cold on Sunday 7th to take part in the Alex Park 5k race (and this was After doing the early lap around the lake!)

Well Done Ann, Martin, Simon and Tony. Who all completed the Xmas Tatton park 10k 'Plod' (anything but!) and Ann did a personal best on this new trail run.

Free meal and drink at the Sedge Lynn after the Run on Tuesday 8th!

Sun 13th after the Tatton park Race we are having a Christmas do in the Horse and Jockey at 5pm onwards

Skyride Manchester: Sunday 2nd August 2009

Manchester has a new mass participation cycling event this summer. British Cycling, Sky and Manchester City Council are collaborating on a series of free summer cycling events. Skyride Manchester is taking place on Sunday 2nd August 2009 in and around the city centre. The route is 11.5 km. It's free to participate and online registration is now open.

Cycle around Manchester's sights; visit the velodrome; be entertained on the way and meet some cycling stars!


Rochdale Rain

Nick, Tony,Warren and Rob took part in the Buxton half Marathon in May. They all agreed it was the hardest race they have ever done due to the 106 degree temperature and the steep, steep, steep, hills but the scenery was stunning and the tea afterwards tasted unbelievable.

Alexandra Park 5K (Whalley Range)
It would be good if everyone could make the Alex Park 5K race. It starts at 11:30am 5th April. You need to get there at 10:30 at the latest in order to register. a few beers after would be good!

We will be having a few drinks on the evening of the Wilmslow Half Marathon (29th March) at the Lead Station on Beech Road in Chorlton from 5pm to 9pm.

We are starting a beginners running group again. The plan is to train people up for the Manchester 10K and hopefully a Half Marathon in December 09.
The first meeting will be at 9.00am at Chorlton Waterpark on Sunday 18th January.

There is aPersonal Best day on 22nd Nov 08, at MCFC
could you please let me know if you are interetsed in this. It will start around 1ish with a variety of light activities for everyone to try out and a lot of nutrition advice from Personal Trainers available. Then we have tickets for the game later that afternoon at 3 against Arsenal
.

Also as part of this day we are required to wear "Getting Manchester Moving"
T-Shirts so if anyone needs ones please let us know .

Jerry completed the Abingdon Marathon last Sunday (19th Oct 08) in
3:26:57 Unbelievable!

And Colin did a fantastic 3:22:20
in Chicago Marathon within temperatures in the mid-80s!

After months of grueling training he is finally off to the 'windy city'. He is running for the prostrate cancer charity.

sforcities There is a 5Krun in Heaton Park on 5th October 2008. 5 km run
The race is open to everyone over 14 years old and to all abilities. The route takes you past some of the highlights of the Heaton Park estate, including the lake, Heaton Hall and the Orangery. The warm-up for the race will start at 11:30am. We may be able to have discounted entries, please email if you would like to participate.

The idea of having a running club t-shirt has been mentioned a few times, please send any links in for where we could get these and any ideas you have for the colours...green colour strip and to the left!

Good luck to everyone doing this Sunday's Manchester 10K.
For anyone starting early some of us will be meeting at Stretford tram station at eight thirty am. It would be good to meet up at Central Library after the run to catch up. Anyone going slightly later will be meeting at the big pebble outside the Bridgewater Hall.
Also a table has been booked at Croma in Chorlton at 4.00-pm for a 'Victory Feast'
On Friday 23rd we are meeting4 at the Lloyds at 7.30pm to see Jerry and his band, everyone welcome

Manchester and District Orienteering club
are in the process of planning a Stockport City Centre event this Summer. This will be around the precinct, market square etc and will be using a large scale map. Navigation will be involved. It's intended to attract not just orienteers but running clubs as well. So if anyone is interested let me know and maybe we can send in a team. The club have also submitted their forthcoming events.
