Well done Jerry 'speedy' Smith who sobered up just enough to do the January Alex Park 5K race. This race is on the first Sunday of every month at Alexandra Park. Results can be found by copy/pasting the address below into your browser

Another big thing in January....I nearly cleared my overdraft (nearly)
A big turn out on a cold January Sunday morning.
Jan 28th -The launch of the '10Kers' see link for more details

February

Left: an image of a typical stretching session with Ann and Jerry putting people through their paces.
Right: some of the gang pick up the  pace when they hear  Rob is getting them in.

Even though it's cold and grey the water park still holds a certain beauty.

5th Feb - Tony, Jerry and Andrea turn up for the Alex park 5K results from     http://www.ukresults.net/2006/#feb.

Next months Alexandra Park race is graced with the launch of the councils '100 day of events'. This means there will be a mass aerobic session and warm ups to music. There will also be a children's fun run. everything starts at 10.30 am, with the race as normal at 11.30am.

For anyone seriously insane we now have details of a half marathon in NORWAY. Check out the NEWS link.

March

Some members completed the March Alex Park 5k.
It was Elleanor's first 5k and she did it in an incredible 22 minutes. I'm not saying money changed hands but well done!

It seems like Summer will never be here. Below are some pictures of a bitterly cold, dark Wednesday evening...but everyone stuck to it.

April

April sadly saw the last of the races at Alex park. Thanks to Anna and everyone at Frontrunners who put in the time, money and effort to organise them.

And well done done to Ahmed and Gabby who did their first 5K.

Also  BIG well done to all the new runners who entered. It was a cold, windy, wet morning (it would have to be wouldn't it ,since I'd  decided to put shorts on)

In Fact Chorlton Runners had a huge turnout. The results can be found here

It took a while, but eventually the secret of how to unwrap the plastic macs revealed itself. It only took 6 of us to work it out!

That's ma boy! Charlie (7) finished neck and neck with two             Mat getting stuck in.
12 year olds. I haven't hear about anything else since......

Andrea, left everyone standing (the dash to the finish with                       Dario ready to punch the photographer.
Eleanor was incredible).

The girls look far too happy

"Check out the bling daddy". Double dutch to me. I'm getting old!

Ahmed signs more autographs.                                                           This says it all.

This doesn't!
"You mean I've given up a cosy warm bed, a nice cup of tea and lovely hot breakfast to run in the cold and rain?"

Well....yea, no contest!

Couldn't resist. Charlie in Darios trainers.

Salford Glory

Tony and Rob proudly display their no-expenses-spared momento of  the Salford 10K on 14th April. Danny was there as well, but was too quick for the camera

The girl did good.....FANTASTIC!!

unfortunately the queen wasn't in when Sa popped round, so she decided to carry on running.
What an inspiration to everyone. Sa could just about manage a slow mile in Feb 05 and now look at her, she's just completed the London Marathon in under 5 and half hours.
Well done Sa from everyone in the group.

Chorlton 5 mile run

Well done to everyone who participated in the race on the last Sunday of April. The course was tough, but everyone completed it. Also Ann C. was the 3rd woman in her age group!

Sarah and Jan looking forward to the run.                                      Rob got lost half way through and had to refer to his map.

Jerry, Jenny and Debbie looking all set                                          Andrea whizzing through 5 miles before going on to do 7 more
for her half marathon training. Wow.

Someone in a Chorlton runners T-shirt.

                      May

The Manchester Bupa 10k,  21 May 2006.

Well we all did, it a fantastic turnout. Well done to everyone, a great achievement.
Jerry 'Speedy' Smith made it seem like a stroll in the park as he casually ran in at 43 and a bit minutes...  And he finished within the first 1000....and Mat didn't stop running to pick up his goody bag

PS message from Tasha - please hand in any sponsor money when you see her!!
